2004-2005 Lego Team - Legonauts
2004/2005 Legonaut Team Members: Clara, Sachie, Eric, Nick, Sam, John, and Paul.The TRCS Lego team again entered the district-state-national competition. This year, Mentor Graphics was the proud sponsor of our team. Again, the engineering coach was Greg McKenzie. He has led our team for the last three years! He was aided by assistant coach, Kevin Rognlie.
This year’s challenge was to study how accessible our building was for handicapped students. It was interesting to watch the team grapple with stairs, doorways and steep hillsides. The robotic challenge involved disabilities as well. The parents and students started work this year during the month of October. They were ready for the district meet held in December.
The team was awarded with the Director’s award - the most prestigious award given. This is an over-all award for team-work, research on the challenge problem, and the robotic solution to the problem. The team then went to the State meet. Even through an ice storm, the team participated in the district meet held at Mentor Graphics in Wilsonville, Oregon.Although the team did not win an award, we are proud of their work together again this year. This is an excellent opportunity for students to study the profession of engineering!
