yes yes I just discovered this week that I've been I've been calculating my years at TRC is wrong and this is actually thought I was my 13th of May 14th you're so I'm starting my 14th you're like a very long time but at the same time every year is new and different and really excited about the team that we have this year and excited about all the new kids we had him in the building today and it was great the energy was fantastic so yeah we're super excited just wanted to say I'm going to be monitoring the Q&A please use the q-and-a for any questions and not chat it was either if it's okay and now I'm heading it over win for fun hey everybody I'm limp response I am the office assistant I have been this is my a Seer to Three Rivers charter school and really looking forward to your head we got a little sneak peek today with new student checkered Locker check in and it was really kind of fun to see all the faces to go with the names that we've been looking at all summer stop is Jill Silverman hi good evening I'm glad that you're here with us I have been in at 3 versus a little bit longer than Elizabeth I think 7 months longer but we we did calculate the they wrong so this is basically like my going into my 15th year I'm just really excited my rule at Three Rivers is to support the lovely staff that you see in front of you as a paraeducator and to work in classrooms with your children and just be an overall support system for the community and for my co-workers and I'm really excited about this school year I'm so excited to see your children in person and I am going to pass this on to Parker kilstrom hi everyone my name is Parker kilstrom I'm starting my 8 month here at CRC I came I started in January on zoom and it's been so fun to go from Zoom to in person to hybrid and now I cannot wait for everyone to be there and I think it's just going to be so much fun I also work in student support alongside Jill and I work as a paraeducator I absolutely love the school and I'm so excited to be back for my second school year and am ready to help everyone and just make this train Mission out of this very strange pandemic situation as seamless and wonderful as possible and with that I'm going to pass it on to Laura hi everyone I'm Laura Leighton I am the school counselor for this year at crcs and I'm super stressed so excited to get snow students and families and work to build a counseling program at this incredible wonderful welcoming school that I've been Philly bus to become apart of this week so and I will pass it on to Jasmine hi everybody thank you for joining us on Jasmine Kiefer this is my fifth year at CRC I am one of the many teaching staff I teach right now I know as well as advisory for all grade levels and I am very excited to get started with is next week and I will pass it on to call him everyone didn't get the memo about showing first names in the as I display there but I'm calling schurmier my first year at Three Rivers charter school last year worked for a couple different schools in the Oregon City School District and I'm really looking forward to getting to know all your students better and just getting started here on Tuesday I can't wait hi I'm next I'm Johanna Vermont I am also a teacher here I'll be primarily working with 678. This fall and then of course working with more grade levels throughout the year excited to get started things like this make it feel very official and we can't wait to get to know the new students and to get to see our returning students more alright I'm next I'm Halo Grobe this is the start of my third year here at three rivers super excited to be back this fall I'll be with the 4th graders in their language arts and help and then with the 5th graders now as well seventh grade math again super excited to get started and have everyone back it was just really energizing and exciting to see kids at school even today just for lockers so we're just really stoked to get everyone back on Tuesday hello my name is Irene Martin and I this evening my first year at Three Rivers I am very excited to join I live in Westland and very excited to be working in the community that I 7 and maybe see some of you around I don't know I'm going to be teaching 4th grade science 5th grade science and fifth grade ELA and sixth grade math this also primarily working with younger kids in the beginning and I know kind of working my way up really excited to join this community seems like a really great small tight-knit welcoming place that we're very excited everybody welcome I'm Barbary and this is the fifth teaching your that I'll be up at Three Rivers although and on my way to teach fourth grade and fifth social studies 5th grade math and 8th grade ELA and I am really looking forward to a wonderful year with everybody excellent Colin do you want to tell everybody what you that was one question in the chat yeah I saw that somehow introduce myself except for all the important information I am a teacher here yes I'm teaching 6 through 8th grade studies as well as sixth grade ELA and 8th grade geometry awesome so our teachers have worked extremely hard this week and we are working hard again tomorrow I am going to let, take a minute to let the teachers become attendees and not panelist which will do two things that will let them make sure they don't have you no crazy barking dogs in the back sound or or you know wrestling children will also let the screen when I'm not sharing just be a couple of squares instead of 12:00 so teachers thank you for being here it is been a great week I'm so excited to have you all as a 14 crcs attendees give me a moment while I put these people in there in the correct places and I'll be with you in just a moment Zoom could make it faster to do this I'm not it's a bit of a clunky process play Jasmine alright fantastic looks like they are all in the correct place again thanks for being here I'm going to go through a few pieces of information for you and then they'll be time at the end for questions as a reminder if you could use the Q&A to ask why you're certainly welcome to ask them as we go but there is a lot of information about to come your way so potentially even a great idea to write them down on your own or on your phone and then I will give you a little bit of time. goes in towards the end I'm going to share my screen again and we will walk you through and that we have to share first of all a few General announcement about next week in case you missed it we are starting school on Tuesday the district is starting school on Wednesday we decided to stick with our original start date of Tuesday that's essentially because our staff does 5 days of in service this week Western Wilsonville staff I believe only had three or four days schedule and so they wanted an additional day to prepare so that's why we stuck with our day school begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday September 7th you may drop off your student between 7:30 and 7:50 outside so I guess you can drop them off between 7:30 and 8 but if it's between 7:30 and 7:50 they will be outside this is just so that we can Ensure you know not a lot of commingling of of towards if they can be outside and once we hit 750 will slowly start to let students in will kind of walkthrough process with students but essentially most of our students will go right to their classroom and then one at a time teachers will dismiss students to go sort of setup for the day going to do lockers filling up a water bottle and just sort of getting set for the day so again our doors open at 7:50 for students there is supervision outside at 7:30 just to make that clear on the first day we're all going to start outside with the outside of a lot the first five days of school pickup is between 3 and 3:15 p.m. our school day actually ends at 2:55 we are just going to give us some sort of those 5 minutes to take out trash from each classroom wipe down our desks and we will the outside for dismissal at 3 we are going to be this is on the next flight actually we are going to be published our first wave of the school year that is our weekly publication within that wave you will see our dismissal procedure for pickup so there's a sort of a nice little infographic that she you where to pick up your student if you're a carpool where to go and we'll be monitoring that and if you can be patient there's always a bit of a learning curve with new families and of course none of us have done it the same waiting on in a very long time so if you can help us by staggering when you come to pick up your students or students on the you know the first week that would be helpful when we all show up at 3 it can be a bit a jam out on 2x road so thank you for helping us out with that the bulk of what this whole question answer is about is our safe return in person instruction continuity of services plan will show you how to get that in a second the slideshow that is going on right now will be available via the website by the end of the day on Friday tomorrow along with this recorded webinar and we'll also send out our first wave I just again please use the Cutie feature to ask questions which will answer at the end we also have an FAQ that specifically addresses many of the questions asked in the Google form went out in early and late August so many of you ask questions or voice your concerns about returning to school and that actually helped us create our safe return in person struction you can of course also submit your thoughts on it ideally by the end of the day tomorrow so we do have a little bit of time to make any adjustments that we need to make I feel really good about it had a lot of people take a look at it and we all feel really comfortable with what we are able to so I will show you how you can access this if you go to our website for ercsd.org in the 2021 to 2022 school year you'll see a link to the safe return in-person struction that will take you to one final link which will take you to a PDF and this is what the Oregon Department of Education had every school and every Charter School do for this the school year retract that a little bit West linn-wilsonville School District may have just their own version for all of our schools in the district because we're charter school we had the option of doing one our own because as many of you know we are a little bit different, in terms of especially in terms of our size so the way we go about things is a little bit different to ours looks slightly different than there's a minute is a robust document 15 pages long and essentially takes takes you through a lot of different prompts that we have answered in their entirety you're welcome to scroll through that but because I too I'm a busy working parents I am aware that that might not be a good option for you so what we're going to do if your today is is sort of a brief overview of all of these sort of middle and efforts that are going to help keep our kids in school and safe all right so this particular graphic is just from the Oregon Department of Education you can see the whole document when you have the slideshow available to be able to just click on the whole document and look at it there a lot of information in it but essentially these eight mitigation efforts are going to help us the spread of covid-19 this is where writing your questions down might be a good idea we're going to go through each one of these eight steps so the first is vaccination so by October all staff that are working in schools must show proof of vaccinations at this time I'm happy to report that 100% of T RCS staff meet this requirement what we have students who are not eligible for the vaccine we encourage those who are eligible what you consider this option it's an important piece in keeping all kids in school and once again when you get this in your hands you can click on that link and that will take you to the FAQ which is for educators but give some important formation about that requirement from the state protective equipment so masks required in side in all School settings the current outdoor mask mandate does not Texas schools however we will be asking students to wear masks when six feet or more of distance cannot be maintained outside I hope you all understand how much teaching we will be doing around this it's sort of what we've always done at 3 where is the spend a lot of time talking through scenarios and why we do what we do if for example your student is kicking a soccer ball outside at recess and they're 1520 10 yards away from their buddy that they're kicking with being unmasked is probably a really safe thing to do in that moment great time to get some fresh air and a great time to just be outside and playing in letting people see who you all of you but if maybe chatting around the circle out there is more of your students the way that they'll spend recess then putting a mask on and talking to your friends while 3 feet apart is may be a safer choice and so again we'll be doing a lot of talking around that we had the best set of students here last year when they were in Highbridge they always had their masks on they were helping each other out they were good at asking if their mascot dirty or it broke or it just wasn't comfortable anymore and we have plenty of masks to provide students and that other little and when I wrote this I was thinking specifically about a couple years ago when there was so much smoke in the air that it was not healthy to be outside so if and when we have to be inside and is really would be in the case of not necessarily the weather what the sky is doing but what the what the smoke is like in the air if we have two inside will ensure that students are 6 feet apart so we plan on playing music we're listening to a podcast so that the tendency to want to talk while you're eating isn't there people can listen people can eat quickly if they so choose and then get outside as fast as possible we will be practice except if it's if it's a fire I'll be going outside if it's Smoky okay but they can then put them back on and be following the rules of 3 feet apart with masks on so just trying to make sure we have first of all of our bases covered for sometimes crazy weather that happens in in our area in September so sorry health authority and the org Department of Education are asking but not requiring three feet of distance or more between mask students and staff so we can definitely achieve this in every classroom at Three Rivers we have spaced out our lockers for each grade level and will be allowing students to store their assigned School Chromebook in the Walker or in their classroom to limit crowding at computer cart students will be in one classroom the entire day if there is a presumptive or positive case and our students were at least three feet apart and Matt no one in that cohort needs to isolate or quarantine as long as they are not experiencing covid-19 symptoms so this is a rule that o d a r o d e n o h a maid to help keep kids in school and it is it is then the rule in the spring hand hygiene most of our students are really good at this and they were before the pandemic so we have hand sanitizing stations at the entrance as well as hand sanitizer sanitizer bottles readily available in each of our classrooms three of our five classrooms have sinks within them the other two classrooms of course will have access to bathrooms for handwashing with soap and warm water we have hand washing reminders at every sink and we definitely encourage singing happy birthday or another similar song a couple of times in a row to make sure you wash your hands for 20 seconds or more next air flow and circulation so our windows and any door that's near a classroom and then our garage doors will be open during the day in what I'm referring to as our close classrooms because they have a door that candy claw unlike our other classrooms the windows open and we have two air purifiers that will clean the air three times in an hour are HVAC system is on a quarterly maintenance schedule and has Merv 13 filters installed and those were just updated on August 30th cohorts we will be maintaining cohorts when we are indoors so students will be in the same classroom space all day with the exception of any 6th or 7th graders that will be at that are in advanced math so these classrooms will have when we switch for Mass between switching for math there is a 15 minute break so those classrooms will have 15 minutes of air Exchange as well as use of our electrostatic sprayers which sanitizes are surfaces quickly and then and those are what we were using last year students will be in assigned seats or three to four weeks at a time before switching and that will just help us if we have to contact people we all know where students were sitting teachers will be the ones moving from class to class and are encouraged to teach outside when possible to take Mass brakes outdoors in the class when outside isn't possible and we will be having families this year this was something we definitely missed as a community last year and for those who don't know what that is we have a trade and leaders so there's usually two ways do 7th graders fourth graders that make a family they do things together they help clean the school cleaning will look a little bit different this year for families but our families this year always meet outside and be six feet apart and Mast and except for when it's necessary to first meet each other so we may have one person on mask in a big circle so that everyone else in the family can see who they are and then they get to say something about them put the mask back on and be wanting everybody else's faces and names I'm so we're really excited to be able to bring back families again we'll just be doing lots of teaching around how to interact not only so that we keep each other safe but also just practicing how to interact with people because a lot of us haven't seen a lot of people beyond our family or our little bubbles in a long time next we have isolation and quarantine if your child isn't feeling well please keep them home we will not have students zooming in the class and will treat absences like we did before the pandemic essentially you're absent you have three days to make up that work and we are flexible with that we want students to focus on getting better not worrying about what they're missing communication is key honest and we definitely want you two are on side of caution when possible again we will help your student get caught up on any missed learning in the event of a classroom or set of students needing to quarantine or isolate you will receive a letter from the local health authority with directions for during school and what family members can consider doing our registered nurse that contracts with us her name is Cheryl Sharkey we are in contact with her at any time we need to be sure she is is able to to talk and so we feel like we have a really solid link to people in the right places to help us know what to do in the event that a student isn't feeling well at school and how to best get that student the help they need and how to help you understand what to do next and environmental clean does infection so we have bathrooms were going to ask that those only are two people at a time we have last year we had the doors propped we have let the doors closed and just ask but if you walk into a bathroom and there's already two people in there you just walk back out and wait until there is only one person left in the bathroom they will be on a cleaning schedule using are ever clean your tabs disinfection tablets with electrostatic sprayers those are the same sprayer as I mentioned earlier our deaths will be sanitized by students between classes and at the end of the day we use a product called the waxy 7/32 cleaner students will remember our white buckets with red tops that indicate they're using the correct cleaning solution and then we will run our air purifiers for at least 2 hours overnight in our classrooms we have little timers for them so they'll just run for a set amount of time just to make sure that proper are exchanges happening we do have a professional cleaning service they come on Tuesdays and Fridays in the evening all right couple of gentle reminders before we get to questions send your student with layers we learn best when we are comfortable it is September in Oregon it's very chilly in the mornings lately but pretty toasty by the end of the day we will be inside with Windows and we will be outside with shade when possible but sometimes not so just help help your kids be prepared for the weather because being very hot or very cold while you're trying to learn is a bit distraction your kids watch you and listen to you help them understand the importance of wearing masks masks and the other mitigation measures will help us stay in school and that is why we're here we want to be in school teaching and learning and finally we can do hard things we've been doing hard things for 18 months we are excited to be back at it at Three Rivers aside from the fact that we will be moving to your kids a few of course other slightly covid related things like masks and a lot of cleaning supplies around the school school here feels Almost 100% normal we have been planning we are created we are finding excitement and getting back to the classroom and so we can do this and we're excited to do this I think that's my last piece there that's for later hang Tai sorry to pause on that Jill but will end with that so again please put your questions in the queue and I will give you a little bit of time to type those in and I am now at the questions myself so give me a moment to take a peek at those okay I have a question that says there's a positive covid case in the classroom is there notification to some or all of the other students in the class the answer to that is highly dependent on how that happens is a positive if it is a positive case in like it happens while at school our registered nurse will make those decisions on Baseline who to contact with in that classroom or that coworker at at times it may be the whole grade level that is contacted and it may just be the people sitting around it may also not be anybody because if that person doesn't have positive in school and is just home or is symptomatic and we don't have a positive test then again following the OD guidelines of 3 feet apart and Mast no one in that room needs to quarantine or isolate as long as they are not symptomatic so that's our that's the way that we can kids in the classroom hope that answers your question the next question is if a student needs to quarantine for 10 days how will they be able to maintain their studies we will do the absolute best we can to help them stay in touch on this is also going to be a case-by-case basis we may be in a place where there is a long-term project they're working on and in that case they would be able to connect with essentially the teacher me our counselor to sort of checking on that process but there won't be an option for that one single student to for example zoom in we will keep them learning as best we can while they are not at school that could that's a mean that could change if if an entire group is is gone okay but a single student is treated like an absence would have been prior to ordering I guess the 2019-2020 school year before the initial shut down next question is will you have tent setup for outside classroom time for when the weather turns we have 1/10 outside right now really kind of thinking of it as more like a shady spot for when were all outside eating lunch we do not have the capability to get every kid outside under a tent just on our on the way that our property is laid out so we have we feel like we have enough undercover space for lunch to keep happening outside and for people to go outside bring an umbrella get some fresh air but we don't have enough space to have outside classrooms so hopefully that answers that question there's a question that says can kids eat outside on nice days and you have tables outside for those who want to eat outside kids will be hang outside for the foreseeable future we we will kind of update you on how that's going our plan much like Portland Public is to get kids outside eating lunch everyday for the next six seven weeks obviously if smoke comes we'll have a plan for that which I talked about earlier if we have Heavy Rain then we will be doing half of the kids inside doing it like sort of like an indoor recess while kids eat outside and you can't see it but I can ride over here there's a undercover space there's a little bit of an undercover space in our back patio area and then we have that tent outside so I feel like we can get kids outside even in a light drizzle to work to eat we really want to have again kids either outside eating or inside eating and they are six fart like we did in the spring so we would not do the 3 feet apart on masked and eating that make sense I don't know who asked that question but cutest question is what can we do to support you and show appreciation bring donuts bagels for my teacher lunches provide Lacroix that's a that's a favorite beverage around here that doesn't that doesn't hurt to be honest we we love just hearing the positive we're going to love hearing that you or your students are are enjoying being back at school so I will definitely I think about other ways you can support us if every prcs family brought us Donuts on Tuesday we would probably not be super energized to teach that day and how many donuts so I can keep you posted on and I know that Miss Mathis and Miss croissant are also really good at at helping think about that little piece of that appreciation piece so we'll keep me posted and I believe that Miss Mathis music thank you appreciate it another question about kids having class outside on nice days absolutely it is it is up to teachers whether or not to be outside our morning things are fairly long as they used to be before the pandemic so it's it's very possible that they will split up you know their language arts class and do a little bit of things outside when it's you know less the teacher lesson and more perhaps like reading a book together so yes the teachers are encouraged to go outside all the time if if if they're doing a lesson that really needs to be inside like science experiment then teachers are in curry halfway through go out and take a nap break or you know find ways to to move and and stretch and get some fresh air and just in case I didn't say it well the beginning couple of days are sort of an orientation and and getting to know each other we have a microphone setup we are planning on being outside a lot of first week of school and so that's why dressing well is is an important thing your student is welcome to bring sunscreen a hat I don't know sometimes if it's really hot some kids like to have like the little car cheats cooling towels like go for it you can be comfortable and be here but outside a lot in September and probably October as well another question field trips are we planning any field trips at this point we are not planning any field trips we have a few ideas for things that we could do for those who don't know we do not have a gym on site we use the Rugby field a lot we use it during the day will be using it a lot next week stay tuned for a Rugby field waiver that gives your child permission to be down there it's for their they're covid-19 purposes like tracking but couple of things that we talked about for field trips would be for PE we've talked about going bowling to go bowling in my head a bowling alley that is just the RCs students and their mask is not a whole lot different than being at school inside I'm with proper ventilation but definitely something we're going to be exploring I know we've won ice skating in the past from my perspective I would love to just sort of watch and see how busing is going with schools that have buses and how that's working out and then mystically how we would get at least half of our students off-site on buses so kind of sitting and waiting I don't want to say it's definitely going to happen but we're looking into it and field trips are a huge part of what we nor I do sweet like to get back to that when it's safe to do so is there a families traveling outside of the country or state is there are the requirements for students 14 prior to coming back to school or needs for a confirmation of a negative test that is a question I could have answered for you in the spring I'm going to need to look that one up Miss Mathis will you highlight that question for me and we will make sure that that one gets answered in our frequently asked questions document so look for that answer at a later moment but but soon I'll try and that for you by by the waves publication time tomorrow next question what if a household member what if a household member of a student test positive or is symptomatic will we know about it I believe the answer to that is no but the answer to that is we are a community that is trying to keep our kids in school so if you if you are an adult and you test positive or you have a presumptive you should keep your kid at home you shouldn't send your student to school if is that I hope this was a question so and that is a that becomes a bit of a more nuanced answer because if you are if your whole household is vax a dad that becomes a different answer in terms of whether you need to quarantine or not so this is why we have Cheryl Sharkey at a moment's notice phone call to help us with questions like that as they arise and I can see who wrote that question so I can definitely follow up with you to sort of get the the nuances of that but in general we we won't know it's cool if if the students doesn't show up to cool and we just hear that they're you know they're staying home from school today we're not necessarily going to know all the ins and outs of why that is but there will be some protocols for how they would need to let us know if they testing positive for student question is will dismissal look different this missile will look a little bit different than it did last year essentially for those of you who have picked up your kids before last year there is a Elaine Drive in from Neck Road where you can pick up kids that are in a carpool we say that's a three or more in a carpool if you're picking up three or more kids will park in the gravel lot if you're not picking up three or more kids you're just going to drive the front doors of the school and we will be all the kids will be outside for dismissal but in different locations we can't get everybody up front and we can't we'd like to not have everybody on the blacktop because it is just a lot of on energy at the end of the day so we will have kids in different locations with staff with them on a walkie-talkie will radio for your student here she will come up and get into they will come up and get into the correct car awesome so and again the question about traveling I will get an official answer for you there's a few other questions popping up about that I will find an answer hope you can appreciate that there's been a lot of changes in the different types of rules and mandates and also the rules change for people who are vaccinated in those or not so I'll keep you posted on that Miss Mathis I don't see any other questions but will you let me know if you think I've missed one I don't have any open questions in a chat or the q-and-a at this point is there anything else before you get to see the best video potentially obscene all day awesome then with that I will show you something just pop up Miss Mathis it was a thank you you and will vac there was an anonymous anonymous person ask will there be a vaccination required for students vaccinations are not required for students 12 and over at this time by the state of organ organ Department of Education or the Oregon Health Authority if you check out our FAQ you can certainly find locations in both Clackamas County and Washington County where they are always providing vaccines to those who are eligible and again when we look back at those mitigation efforts that we showed at the beginning we know that vaccinations are an important piece of keeping our kids safe in school all right it's a comment thank you I appreciate it we are doing our best to keep your kids safe as it as a close before I show you this this quick video that your your students will also see on Tuesday they're actually going to see it all the time they might get sick of it I have a 5 year old and he is going into kindergarten this year he goes to school in the North Clackamas School District so I have a new found appreciation for some of the anxieties that you all have been feeling real 80 months of course I had him in a daycare preschool situation but if if you've been paying attention to those different requirements it is a bit of a different situation so I have a student who is going to kindergarten masks and has a whole lot of new feelings about just being in kindergarten so I I appreciate all of all that you are doing at home to help your kids be safe and and be courteous of others I meant to just go forward with courage and strength and hope that we will sooner rather than later be back to a normal 100% normal and would that please email me if you didn't get your question answered or if you have anything else you can also always
