itrca this is an intro for are hybrid planning spring term 2021 we wanted to give you an introduction to what we've been planning the last couple months and why we've been planning it and then there's a presentation to follow this introduction that kind of goes into some more details I one thing to note right away is that this is for hybrid instruction if your student in your family is choosing to stay in CDL will be releasing those details a little bit later this week so a couple thing I just wanted to make no tie before we start the presentation is our thinking behind what we're going to do for a hybrid as we roll into the spring term and we know a lot more now about online when we did when we started creating plans last summer and we really feel like we have a better understanding of what worked and what didn't work in CDL we are also planning for the remainder of 2 and 1/2 months of the school verses in the summertime we were planning for a full potential full-year in hybrid we also know a lot more about zoom and the zoom atmosphere and where our kids are at and we see our staff and with our students somewhat we might consider resume fatigue setting in it is hard to be on a camera on screen every day and we think our students for doing that to this point but we do take that into consideration as with God hybrid plan and really we felt like as a staff our main focus needs to be on those students that are going to be in front of us in hybrid and we feel like if that pasta split attention between an on-site program and an online program live during a class that's going to be very challenging and we also know that we think or we know or we think our biggest need is really I'm just connecting with kids building commute play again really focusing on what it means to be back in school for the last 2 and 1/2 months and so we decided to go with a hybrid plan where your kids will be on site 2 days a week and then the other days that they're not there going to be an asynchronous learning for the most part or in that environment we will have some teachers that are available throughout the day during that asynchronous time to be digital learning coaches but we really want to be focusing on the kids that we have in front of us when they're on site until we decided that we were going to do that via math and language arts learning box do when they're on site for their two days they'll be in a math language arts learning block and that learning box also pull in some social emotional on learning and really also focus on community building within that cohort and so we think that is a really important piece that our students have missed during the pandemic and we want to do our best to really ground running with the community building and I kind of that sense of belonging that we feel like it has been really hard via online learning so that will be our focus and that also we think the to focus subject area and I need to be the math and language arts and some of the more elective classes science and social studies will be on the a synchronous environment we felt like giving as much as we can of like a clean break between the on-site learning and asynchronous learning will help our students stay on track we also learned that that's working really well in other states there's following that same model and so we do feel like we have some data that shows that and so that's kind of why we planned and built around that piece and you know there will be probably some practice for language arts and math during the asynchronous time but the instruction most of the focus will happen when students are on site and so that's why we made that decision really thinking about meeting the needs of the current kids that are on site and with our teachers in front of them we made the decision to have a classes that are on site in front of a teacher in the rest of the rest of the class is being more of that asynchronous model and that will be materials generated also by our teaching staff in the last is it the environment when you come back to school it's going to look very different we have quite a few guidelines that we've been working through they're very strict we have to have them in place until the building will look a lot different on the classroom will look a lot different but we're going to do the best we can to a comfortable environment for our students making an exciting environment for our students at so we hope you enjoy the presentation and as always reach out if you have any questions thank you when we transition from all of our school and CDL into hybrid there were still be two choices one will be the plan that we're going through with you today that isn't overview of our hybrid plan where students will attend on-site classes two days a week and will be asynchronous the other days of the week number 2 is CDL for those students are families that are not ready for their kid to return to school there will be an option for online we will have details for that program by the end of the week and we are still planning and figuring out how our staffing is going to work for that plan and by the end of this presentation there will be some deadlines cuz we'll need families to make some decisions on which some final decisions on which program they're going to choose cohorts each grade level will be divided into two cohorts this is a change from our planning in the fall based on getting all of our desks here working on the square footage working with our local health authority on what would work in our building and would not work and so we have decided that we will have cohorts at every level 428 will be either in cohort and cohort. we will also place are CDL students in a cohort in case the situation changes and they decide they want to come back on site during the last two and a half months are we cohort schedule will be in the AA BB format the preference of the majority of our families that filled out our survey back in January and Co Works live instruction in school will occur on Mondays and Tuesdays they will be in a sink learning Wednesday Thursday and Friday note asynchronous Wednesday and Thursdays and Friday they will be an asynchronous learning Monday Tuesday and Wednesday noting again asynchronous Wednesday is asynchronous learning for both cohorts when students are on site they will be in math and language arts learning blog we feel like these two subject areas we should focus when we have students on-site we will also Focus during that time on social emotional learning and Community Building do we feel like our students have missed out on these opportunities for the past year as we've been dealing with the pandemic this you also allows us to fully clean and sanitize the building between each cohort on Wednesday and we will also be cleaning on a strict schedule between Monday and Tuesday and Thursday and Friday we want to make sure our building is as safe as possible for when I students return and while they are here when we built our cohort model we focused on several things number one safety and we wouldn't students and teachers to limit their interactions with others we wanted a consistent schedule so Inez and maintaining core to Core lesson consistency but also making it so potentially if there was Community spread in our build we may have to shut down and cohort but not shut down the entire school or fully go back to CDL we also had to think about contract racing how can we keep track of students who have had contact or I've had a contact of a contact because we are required to contact race all the students that come in our building if there is a positive case and also Staffing in keeping our staff as safe as possible so when we thought about cohorts when students are on site and there'll block will be focusing on math and language arts and they'll be with one teacher and one other staff member this gives us the ability to keep our consistency as much as possible and also creates the absolute safest and we can create here on site at TRC s this is our calendar for March 2021 how the week of March 1st we have an orientation week for our fourth grade cohort so they will be on site and their cohorts the week of the first week of March we have our orientation for 5th 6th 7th and 8th grade in each one of those grade levels have a day we really wanted to get orientation in their students in the building to see what the building is going to look like prior to going on spring break that way when we return from spring break on the 29th and all our students are in cohorts they will hit the on running also want to know that we are staying with our two weeks of spring break we know families have been planning around this already I'm as it's been on our calendar all year and also we know that two years ago and we did our calendar surveys looking adjusting the calendar that keeping the two week spring break was very important for our community and so that is our calendar for March and hopefully all goes well and that same schedule from the week of the 29th will continue on to April when we return to campus there will be a plethora of safety procedures in place we will continue to go through these each week as we get closer closer to returning the hybrid and continue to release our blueprint and safety guidelines but here's a couple that we really wanted to cover in this presentation we're going to do everything we can to maintain quartz students and staff interactions we will practice physical distancing every desk in our building will have a 35 square foot area that is there's also all of our hallways will be marked as one way traffic we will clean everyday on a sketch Everett the bathroom will be cleaned on every hour on the rooms will be sanitized between quartz and also on when students are on brakes if we we will be taking daily information for contact tracing so every day parents will need to complete a form each day their student comes to school and we will also ask questions of the students during the check-in process we will have will be required to wear a face covering at all times except when they're eating and that is an OD guideline for indoors and Outdoors and so as you can practice that as much as possible and we will be following all note guidelines urgently to get those in place and we will adhere to those as we are in the building so we have some next steps for you and we need to get your feedback on a couple items so attached read this email there's a cohort survey if you could have that filled out and returned to us by Monday February this Friday in the survey asking families to make a final decision did my February 15th on which program they vote they would like their child participate in has always communicate with us asking questions you have and will be happy to answer those also look for some more details on a potential q and a webinar Thursday February 11th and we just that we hope you guys are well staying healthy during this time and we are so excited to get our kids back on campus and to see them everyday we know it's going to be a little different and we know it's going to feel a little different but we're so excited to have kids in the building everyday - Jose synchronistic Wednesdays every other day we could
