6th Art

Course Description

Welcome to Winter Term Art! We will be continuing our study and investigation of the Elements and Principles of Design. We will kick start December with a meditative art project geared toward repetition, patterns, color scheme, rhythm to just name a few. Holiday card making will be in the works to celebrate as well! January will be a new focus of study this year. We will be investigating the technique within paper art design, such as the fine work of Quilling and Notan (utilizing positive and negative space) on tag board. Our theme this year is perspective and it would be remiss of me to not have a perspective drawing study offered in art this year. Your students will be learning the basic elements for deigning a one or two perspective drawing.... and perhaps adding a challenge of birds eye view, or an ants. Either way, students will be looking from different perspectives challenging the way they see and how to manipulate a 2D space to look 3D. Logistically speaking, our classes will be block, which means students will have one, 2.25 hr class and one 45 min class a week. Due to this schedule, missing your art class will require you to meet with Ms. T and develop a plan so you are ready to rock when the next class approaches.
