Enrollment and Lottery Information

The application period for our lottery is now open. There is no preference given to those who apply early, but you must submit the application by the deadline - 4:00 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Our lottery will be conducted via Zoom at 4:30 pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Parents will be notified of placement results after birthdates, grade level, and residence eligibility are confirmed with the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. Siblings of currently enrolled students (at the time of the lottery) can bypass the lottery process and are offered an automatic spot. As an example: if you enter two students into the lottery and only one is offered enrollment, your other student must wait until the following school year to enroll. 

 

We will host three information sessions before the lottery. Dates and location of the informational meetings are:

Tuesday, February 17, 2026 - 5:30 pm at the Wilsonville Public Library (note, this has been updated from the original date of 2/19/26)

Tuesday, March 3, 2026 - 6:30 pm at Three Rivers Charter School

Thursday, April 2, 2026 - 5:30 pm at the West Linn Public Library

 

We are offering two open houses, one on Friday, February 27 and one on Monday, April 6. Both open houses will be from 8:30 am to 9:30 am and will be during our school day, so we ask that you keep your visit brief so our learners can still have a productive morning. This is a great opportunity to come during the instructional day to see the school in action. The end of our school year is a very busy time for both our staff and students and it is hard to accommodate tours outside of our informational meeting and open house, so please plan on attending one of the scheduled open houses. We appreciate your understanding.

 

Lottery & Enrollment Offers
Once you have submitted your application and attended the events, we invite you to join our live public lottery.  The lottery is not held in person. A link will be posted here to access it via Zoom. The day of the lottery, each student will be assigned a random number* and an email will be sent to you with their number and a link to the Zoom.

 

The lottery essentially builds our wait list, so once we know enrollment numbers of our current students, we will begin to build next year's class lists, beginning with the top of each grade's wait list. We do not know in advance how many spots will be available in each grade, though there are typically the most available for our incoming 4th grade. You will receive more information and results via email or telephone the week after the lottery. Please do not contact the office unless you haven't heard from us by May 8, 2026.

 

If your child is selected for enrollment based on random lottery selection and room in the grade level, you will be given a short period of time (typically 24 hours) to give TRCS a final decision. We ask that families have the important conversation about attending Three Rivers Charter School well in advance of the lottery, so that you are prepared to give an answer and we can move forward with the enrollment process for all students.

 

*Students are randomly assigned a number between 1-50 per grade level. Numbers are drawn by grade level, starting with 4th grade and ending with 8th grade. Numbers will repeat for each grade level. We read each number as we place it into the "hopper" and we read each number as it is pulled from the hopper once the drawing has begun. This means when it is time for your student's grade level to be drawn, you will hear their number twice. The first time to ensure you know it's in the hopper, the second to know the order on the wait list after it is drawn. This also means that your student, entering 4th grade, may have the same number as a student entering 7th grade. We pull each grade level separately. We will make sure everyone knows which grade level we are drawing. 

 

Waiting List 
If there is not room for your student, the student will remain on the waiting list. Parents will be notified of your student's position on the list and we will call you as soon as there is an opening for your child. While we are happy to answer any further questions you have at that time, parents need to be prepared to make a quick decision regarding enrolling at Three Rivers Charter School. Often this isn’t until well into summer or after the new school year has started, so be aware there may be no further opportunity to learn about our program or ask questions if you don’t participate in the resources we are offering during the spring.
